Haifa - Israel

Haifa is a major port and industrial center in Northern Israel. It is situated on the Haifa Bay, part of the city encompassing the coastal plain below the Carmel range, while the rest of the city occupies the northern and western slopes of the Carmel. The city has two universities, several museums with prehistorical, archeological, art and naval exhibits, as well as an oceanographic institute.
Haifa contains several historical sites dating from prehistoric times until the Ottoman Period, including an ancient Crusader fort and the remains of the ancient town “Shikmona” containing mosaic floors and an ancient Church. Haifa is also a religious center and the site of Elijah’s Cave, the Baha’i Temple and the Carmelite Monastery.
