Tiberias - Israel

Named after the Roman Emperor Tiberias, this 2000 year old town is situated on the Sea of Galilee and is one of the four cities holy to the Jews (Tiberias, Jerusalem, Hebron, and Safed). It was the seat of famous Talmudic scholars.
Today it is a major spa and resort area. Major attractions include: the Tiberias Hot Baths, know since ancient times, the burial sites of many of Judaism’s most famous rabbis and scholars including the Rambam and Rabbi Akiva, several ancient sites including Tel Rakat and Ein Kotzer, Roman and Crusader buildings and towers and an ancient Roman bathhouse.
