Fourth Annual Gospel Israel Gala - GIG - 2013 in the Holy Land
For the fourth year in a row Vered Hasharon was proud to be part of the Gospel Israel Gala Tour from South Africa that took place in the Holy Land at the end of September 2013.
Once again, as in previous years, we welcomed hundreds of pilgrims from South Africa who toured the Holy Land with us, visiting historical and biblical sites and taking part in evening events of worship and praise.
The groups traveled around the country touring sites in Jerusalem, Caesarea, Masada, Qumran, The Dead Sea, Bethlehem, Nazareth and the Galilee region including the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha, Capernaum and Yardenit. Included also in the tour was a visit to the Nazareth Village where life in the Galilee in the time of Jesus is recreated.
The opening event led by Angus Buchan was held in the "King of Kings" pavilion in the centre of Jerusalem. The evening consisted of musical performances by famous singers such as Willie and Natasha Joubert and preaching both in Afrikaans and in English. A highlight was a special surprise performance in Zulu by one of the groups visiting who had practiced on the bus earlier in the day, representing "the face of Africa in the city of peace". In an inspiring sermon, Mr. Buchan summed up the Gala Tour by saying that being able to visit, pray and sing in God's country, surrounded by God's people is "a life changing event".
The second event was held at the Garden Tomb and was an evening of prayer and reflection hosted by Dr. Isak Burger. Like the evening before, the participants enjoyed musical segments as well as prayers for the peace of Jerusalem. The event ended with a holy communion shared by all those present.
We look forward to GIG Gospel 2014
