Catholic tour to the Holy Land from Brazil
MAGNIFICAT GROUP from Brazil
A Catholic group of 28 people arrived in Israel from Brazil on April 22 to spend 8 days touring the Holy Land.
The group began their tour in Tel Aviv visiting St Peter’s Church in Jaffa and then continued northwards to the ancient Roman capital Caesarea, Mount Carmel, The Baha’i gardens in Haifa and ending in Nazareth. While in the North of Israel the group toured the Sea of Galilee region visiting sites like Capernaum, Tabgha, the Mount of Beatitudes and Mount Tabor.
At Qasr el Yahud baptism site the group took part in a baptism ceremony.
The group travelled to Jerusalem, stopping at the Qumran Caves along the way. Once in Jerusalem they visited Churches, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Via Dolorosa and Mount Zion. The group toured the Old City including visiting the Cardo, the Western Wall and the Temple Mount. They also visited Ein Karem, the birthplace of John the Baptist.
Bethlehem was also visited, including a visit to the Church of Nativity.
After driving from Jerusalem through the Judean desert to the Dead Sea the group ascended by cable-car to visit Masada, a fortress built by Herod. After descending by cable car, the group enjoyed some time swimming and relaxing in the unique Dead Sea waters.
After departing Israel on April 29, the group flew to Rome for 3 days of sightseeing before returning home to Rio de Janeiro.
