During April, a Group of South African Protestants arrived in the Holy Land on a pilgrimage tour with Vered Hasharon.
While in the Holy Land the group toured from the Galilee region in the north down to Eilat in the south of the country.
They visited the main Christian sites around the Sea of Galilee including Tiberias, The Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha and Capernaum. While in the area they visited The Yardenit Baptismal Site on the River Jordan where many of them chose to take part in a baptism ceremony. At the wedding church in Cana those who wished to do so got the chance to renew their wedding vows. The group all enjoyed a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee in a replica of the wooden Jesus boat with time for celebration as well as reflection.
The group also visited Muhraka on Mount Carmel, considered to be the biblical site where Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal.
During their stay in the Jerusalem region the pilgrim group spent time visiting the Christian holy sites including the Old City of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Herodian, the Dead Sea and Emmaus.
