The picturesque City of Safed is located in Northern Israel (also spelled Tsfat, Zefat, Tsfat) . It is one of Israel’s four holy cities together with Jerusalem, Hebron and Tiberias and since the 17th century has been a spiritual centre for Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah).

This ancient Galilean city is in a delightful mountaintop setting in Upper Galilee and at 900 meters above sea level is the highest city in Israel. It has beautiful views of the Galilee especially during the winter when the white snow-capped peak of Mount Hermon and surrounding green mountains allows breathtaking views of the surrounding areas.

Safed has a rich and interesting past and it has been said by ancient Mystics that it will play a significant role in the final redemption. Legend has it that the son and grandson of Noah, Shem and Ever established their Yeshiva and where Jacob studied for many years. After the Spanish Expulsion many famous religious scholars fled to Safed which subsequently became the spiritual centre of the Jewish world.

This charming city has an exciting Artists quarter with studios in magnificent old houses and interesting museums, picturesque cobblestone alleyways and beautiful old synagogues. At the top of the city is the Citadel with ruins that date back to Crusader times.
