Israel is a highly technically advanced country with wireless networks found throughout the country. Many places in Israel offer free Wi-Fi starting on arrival at Ben Gurion Airport. Countless coffee shop chains and fast food chains also offer free Wi-Fi service with passwords sometimes given to users by their staff. In many cases restaurants around the country offer Wi-Fi service to their clients.
Free Wi-Fi service in many hotel public areas in Israel has become a standard feature with an increasing number of hotels offering free service in their rooms as well, which benefits businessmen and visitors from Israel and from around the world. This service has now spread to numerous guest houses as well. There are also many hotspots found in convenience stores at gas stations and Wi-Fi areas are also located at universities, colleges, visitors’ centers, convention halls, marinas and museums and other tourist sites including shopping malls.
The city of Tel Aviv is literally a Wi-Fi “hotspot” with 80 free internet spots all across the city to serve tourists and visitors at tourist attractions, the beach, boulevards, and even while walking down the street.
The Jerusalem Wi-Fi project covers sections of the city center and various other spots including the German Colony neighborhood, Safra square and the downtown pedestrian shopping center.
