After the enormous success of the 2011 Israeli Opera festival that was held at Masada and in Jerusalem the planning and ticket sales for the 2012 Israeli Opera festival have already begun.
This year over 55,000 Israelis and tourists experienced the incredibly spectacular and acclaimed production of the Opera Aida conducted by Maestro Daniel Oron against the magnificent backdrop of Masada. There was also an Israeli Premier performance of Verdi’s Jerusalem with the magnificent walls of the Old City of Jerusalem as the stunning backdrop.
The Israeli Opera Festival in 2012 will feature another spectacular production at the foot of Mt. Masada, this time it will be George Bizet’s Carmen once again with a cast of hundreds on the specially erected stage near to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Once again Israeli Maestro Daniel Oron will conduct the Israeli Opera Orchestra and Chorus with Lead roles being sung by International Opera Stars. The unique flavor of fiery arias and passionate Spanish dances will make this production really special.
The three and a half hour performances will take place on Thursday, 7 June , Saturday 9 June and Sunday, 10 June 2012 with the opera sung in French with English and Hebrew subtitles.
On Monday 11th June 2012 there will also be a gala concert including areas and duets from popular operas featuring tenor Roberto Algna and mezzo soprano Elina Garance regarded as two of today’s greatest Opera stars, accompanied by the Israeli Opera Orchestra and conducted by Marcello Montadelli.
This is an opportunity not to be missed.
