Costa Rica Catholic Pilgrimage - July 2014
On July 20, 2014, a group of 23 Catholics from Costa Rica led by Father Luis Adolfo Mora arrived in Israel. The group toured for 8 days in the Holy Land and Jordan.
Upon arrival in Israel, the pilgrims were taken to Tiberias. After checking in to the hotel and having a short rest, the group began their tour with a visit to Yardenit Baptism site to renew their baptism and then attended Mass on Mount Tabor.
During the tour of the Galilee region, the group of pilgrims visited Nazareth including the Church of the Annunciation and Joseph’s workshop. In Cana of Galilee they renewed their wedding vows. They continued for a visit of Capernaum, Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes where they attended Mass. The group also enjoyed a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.
During their two-day stay in Jordan, the pilgrims visited Jerash, an ancient Roman city, Madaba, enjoyed a panoramic tour of the most important places in Amman. They toured and Mount Nebo with a magnificent panoramic view of the Jordan Valley, Jericho and the Dead Sea.
In Jerusalem the group went to the Mount of Olives, where they enjoyed a panoramic view of the city, visited amongst other sites the Chapel of the Ascension, the Church of Dominus Flevit, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of All Nations. They visited Bethlehem where they celebrated Mass at the Church of the Nativity.
While touring the Old City of Jerusalem, the group walked along the Via Dolorosa all the way to the church of the Holy Sepulcher, visited the tomb of King David, the Upper Room, the Abbey of Dormition, the Western (Wailing) Wall and the Temple Mount.
