CINPEC 2015 - "Pèlerins de l'Amour" - "Pilgrims of Love"

 

The annual CINPEC tour began in August. This year the group led by Bishop Paul Mamba consisted of 336 pilgrims from Senegal embarking on a tour of the Holy Land, Rome and Lourdes and included a visit to the Vatican where the Bishop was received by the Pope at a special Papal audience. The first stop after departing Senegal was the Holy Land.

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport the group was welcomed and driven to their hotel in Jerusalem for Dinner and Overnight.
After lunch the next day they were driven to Ein Karem where they visited the church of St. John the Baptist and the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin after which they continued to Bethlehem and visited the Shepherds Field as well as the Church of the Nativity and the Church of St. Catherine for a Celebration Mass.
The following days they spent visiting the ancient Port city of Jaffa, the monastery at Latrun and sites in Jerusalem with Mass held at various churches, before travelling to Jericho, Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and some relaxing time at the Dead Sea, before returning to Jerusalem.
In Jerusalem there were visits and Mass at the church of Saint Anne and a walk along the Via Dolorosa following the Stations of the Cross where crosses were made available to the pilgrims.  There was a visit also to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the site of the crucifixion. The group also visited Yad Vashem (Holocaust Memorial).
The Pilgrims toured the small Christian town of Taybe on the West Bank, which is under the administration of the Palestinian Authority, where they visited the Church of St George and had Mass.
After leaving Jerusalem the group visited Abu Ghosh, Caesarea and Haifa before continuing on to Nazareth to visit amongst other places, the Church of the Annunciation.

The Pilgrims then spent time touring all the sites in the North of the country starting with a tour of Mt. Tabor followed by visits to sites along the River Jordan and the Sea of Galilee. They visited Capernaum, Cana, Tagbha and the Mount of the Beatitudes as well as many other sites, with mass held at various churches along the way, the highlight being the memorable Mass held in the middle of the lake during a cruise on the Sea of Galilee.
After a meaningful 10 days touring the Holy Land the group flew to Rome on a special flight to continue their Pilgrimage tour with four days in Rome starting with ad limina Apostolorum (to the threshold of the tomb of the Apostles Peter and Paul). The visited the Basilica of St. Peter, the Catacombs of St. Sebastian and after dinner participated in a gathering at Fraterna Domus Church.
The tour included a visit to the Vatican for the memorable and special Papal Audience, after which they departed to visit the Basilica of St. John Lateran and the Scala Santa followed by Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major and Saint Paul outside the Walls.

At the end of the four days in Rome they continued on to Lourdes and their accommodation close to Lourdes Grotto.  On arrival they participated in the Opening Mass in the Upper Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
During the group’s stay in Lourdes they celebrated Mass with the Diocese of Arras at the Grotto, participated in the Marian procession with Torches and attended International Mass in the Basilica of St. Pius X Underground.

They also attended Mass in the Basilica of the Rosary and took part in the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament presided by Bishop Paul Abel Mamba and participated in the Rosary Procession.
 
 At the end of another successful Pilgrimage the group departed for home.
