On July 30, 2014 a group of 30 Catholics arrived in the Holy Land and spent 8 days touring the country.
The group began their tour in the North beginning Mount Tabor and continuing for the next few days visiting the Mt of Beatitudes where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount, Tabgha, Capernaum, a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and a Baptism ceremony in the River Jordan. While in the North the group also toured the basilica of the annunciation where the Angel Gabriel visited Mary to proclaim the birth of the Lord Jesus) in Nazareth, and Cana for a renewal of wedding vows.
Driving south they traveled to the Dead Sea and Jericho to visit the Mount of temptation where Jesus spent forty days and forty nights, the ruins of the city of Jericho, Elisha’s pool where Elisha purified the waters of Jericho and the tree of Zacchaeus. The pilgrims also visited the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem where they had a special Mass.
Next on the tour was Jerusalem beginning at the Mount of Olives and continuing to visit the garden of Gethsemane, to the Pool of Siloam where Jesus sent the blind man to wash so that he may see, The Hall of the Last Supper and the church of St Peter in Gallicantu. Other places visited while in the region included the Western (Wailing) Wall, the pool of Bethesda, walking along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
The last day of their tour was spent in Jaffa and Tel Aviv touring Old Jaffa to the church that the marks the house of Simon the tanner and a visit to the famous Carmel Market for some shopping before departing to the airport for their flight home.
