Pilgrimage from Manila - Archbishop Tagle
At the end of October 2011, Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle, of Manila toured the Holy Land together with 100 pilgrims. Arriving via Jordan, the group began their trip in the North visiting holy sites such as the Basilica of Annunciation in Nazareth, the Church of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, the Church of St. Peter and the Synagogue in Capernaum, Tiberias and Tabgha. While in the North, Archbishop Tagle took part in a tree planting ceremony at the Baptismal site of Yardenit in honour of the Philippine-Israel Friendship.
Amongst other sites visited during the tour were The Dead Sea, the Basilica of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Field in Bethlehem, the Via Dolorosa (14-Stations of the Cross), the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and the Latrun Monastery at Emmaus.
