CINPEC 2018 Pilgrims of the Mission Tour
For the 11th year in a row Vered Hasharon and CINPEC Senegal cooperated together to bring a large contingency of pilgrims to the Holy Land in August 2018. This year the chosen theme was “Pilgrims of the Mission”. The tour coordinator was Mme Maria Mbengue Ndiaye and the tour was led by the president of CINPEC, Monseigneur Paul Abel Mamba.
Before departing from Dakar, the Bishop, in a surprise event, presented us with a special gift they had prepared with the Vered Hasharon logo and some special words in the local Wolof language. This gift was presented to honor and commemorate the 10 wonderful years of CINPEC Senegal working with Vered HaSharon. We are extremely proud and grateful for this gift.
After the ceremony, which ended with Mass that included about 500 people, all 351 pilgrims boarded, with great excitement and anticipation, the four special flights that Vered Hasharon chartered in order to begin their unforgettable pilgrimage.
The first stop on this pilgrimage was the Holy Land where the group spent 11 days touring the special and beautiful sites throughout the country. After spending some time visiting the holy sites of Jerusalem and touring the surrounding areas including Qumran and the Dead Sea, the group travelled via Tel Aviv and Haifa to Nazareth to spend the next three days in the Galilee.
The last day in the Holy Land was the highlight of the Holy Land portion of this trip beginning with a visit to the Church of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor to say Mass. They then continued to Yardenit Baptism site on the Jordan River to take part in an emotional and special ceremony unveiling a new plaque, inscribed in the Wolof language, representing the Catholic Community from Senegal and on the Wall of Life. This was an immensely memorable moment for all the participants.
The next day all 351 group members boarded a special flight to take them to Rome and Lourdes to continue their pilgrimage tour.
We are extremely proud of the wonderful relationship that has built up between Vered Hasharon and CINPEC Senegal over the years. We look forward to many more years of CINPEC pilgrimages.
