A group of 52 participants arrived from the USA in January to spend 10 days on a retreat pilgrimage to the Holy Land led by Fr. Roy B. Regaspi.
From the Church of Annunciation in Nazareth where the archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary and the Sea of Galilee region, through to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus and Jerusalem, the group walked in the very places where Jesus & Mary walked.
After visiting sights in the North such as the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum, Mount Tabor, Tabgha and enjoying a relaxing boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, the group continued southwards to Jericho, the Dead Sea and Masada, stopping along the way to renew baptismal vows at the Jordan River.
While Touring Jerusalem the group visited all the main churches and holy sites including walking along Palm Sunday Road and stopping at Dominus Flevit from where Jesus wept, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of all Nations, the Church of St Anne and Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
There was time for the group to take a sightseeing trip to the red rose city of Petra in Jordan and then returning for a visit of Emmaus, Tel Aviv and Jaffa before departing for their flight home.
