Philippines Holy Land Pilgrimage
On February 19 a group of 58 pilgrims from the Philippines arrived in Israel for a 7 day Holy Land Tour. The group was escorted by Chikie Cruz and included Fr. Bien Miguel who attended as the Pilgrim Chaplain assisted by Fr. Manny Cuevas.
After arriving and resting overnight in Tel Aviv the group traveled North visiting Caesarea, Haifa and Nazareth. They toured the Galilee region experiencing sites such as Tabgha, Mount of Beatitudes, Yardenit the traditional baptism site and also enjoyed a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee in a replica of a wooden Jesus boat. The group visited Cana where couples renewed their marriage vows.
The group continued to the Dead Sea to enjoy swimming in the unique water and then on to Jerusalem where they got to visit the Holy sites, Ein Karem and also traveled to Bethlehem to visit the Church of Nativity as well as the Shepherd’s Fields where they held Mass.
While staying in Jerusalem the group toured around the city, visiting the Old City, walking along the Via Dolorosa, going to the Mount of Olives, stopping at the Church of the Ascension and the Church of Pater Noster, walking along the Palm Sunday Road passing by the Franciscan Church of the Dominus Flevit, continuing on the Palm Sunday Road ending at the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations where they held Mass.
Before leaving the Holy Land the group also toured the Room of the Last Supper at Mount Zion and went to Emmaus to visit a Benedictine Catholic Church.
