A group of 12 people from the USA visited Israel in November under the leadership of a long serving Sierra Club leader and an Israeli to experience an active and extensive adventure. Aside from visiting the usual religious and historic sites they experienced the unique ambience of this captivating country, they also explored the natural history and interesting wildlife of Israel.
During the time they were here, the group visited a diversity of areas from the beautiful northern areas of the country that includes the source of the Jordan River and the Hula Nature reserve, which is the path of migration of millions of birds and of course the Sea of Galilee. They also visited the modern and dynamic city of Tel Aviv with contrasting Jaffa which is the world’s oldest port town.
The group experienced beautiful desert landscapes , floating on the Dead Sea and snorkelling in the Red Sea with its colourful coral reefs and sea life.
