In September 2015 a group of 41 Mormons from Utah in the USA arrived in Israel for a tour of the Holy Land.
The group were met on their arrival at Ben Gurion airport and transferred to their hotel where they enjoyed an evening of relaxation and a welcoming dinner.
Their tour began with a visit to the fascinating archaeological site of Ceasarea where the apostle Paul was tried, they then relived the battle of Elijah and the Priests of Baal at Mt. Carmel and then viewed the valley of Armageddon at the ruins of Megiddo before travelling to Cana the site of the miracle of water to wine. They also visited Nazareth where the glorious announcement of the Saviours birth took place.
Before ending their visit to the Galilee area in the North of Israel they visited Mt. Tabor, the site of Christ’s transfiguration, had a beautiful boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, visited Capernaum and spent time at the place on the Jordan River where Christ was baptized by John the Baptist.
The group then began their journey South, along the way visiting Bet She’an, the largest Roman ruin in Israel, went on to Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered and the wonderful mountain fortress of Masada where they enjoyed the magnificent view during a cable car ride to the top. They also relaxed while “floating” in the Dead Sea before travelling on to Jerusalem.
During their stay in Jerusalem - the holy center for the world’s major religions and filled with limitless history, they visited the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Cave in Bethlehem and then back in the old City of Jerusalem they viewed the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the room of the Last Supper and other places of interest.
They also spent time in the more modern city of Jerusalem visiting the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the book, Yad Vashem (Holocaust Memorial) and other sites. They finished their tour of the Holy Land by visiting the holy sites of Gethsemane and the Garden Tomb before transferring to the airport for their return flight to the USA.
