DIRECTION DES OEUVRES CATHOLIQUES ABIDJAN - Group Pilgrimage July 2012
Vered HaSharon has been working with the National Catholique office in the Ivory Coast - The Direction Nationale Des Oeuvres Catholique D'Abidjan - for 25 years, bringing groups to the Holy Land on pilgrimages.
In July 2012, a group from the Ivory Coast arrived in the Holy Land for an 11 day pilgrimage. This Catholic group consisted of 51 people including 25 Priests.
The tour leader of the group was Mrs. Rosalie Komenan who has been the secretary of Direction Nationale Des Oeuvres Catholique D'Abidjan for the past 25 years. Mrs. Komenan is retiring and this was her last trip in her official capacity. Her successor, Ms. Stephanie Kacou, also came on the trip.
A special evening was held in honor of these two women – to thank Rosalie for her many years of helping to bring pilgrimages to the Holy Land and to bless Stephanie and wish her luck in her new position. Mrs. Nancy Shedlaz from the Ministry of Tourism was at the event and presented them both with gifts and then Vered Hasharon continued the evening with the group, also presenting these two ladies with gifts.
Vered Hasharon gave a special gift to Rosalie of a silver plated hand holding a ball shaped silver plated model of Jerusalem and the gates of the Old City.
Stephanie received from Vered Hasharon a copper plate blessing for her new position to lead her to success.
The group spent the 11 days touring the country visiting holy sites in Nazareth, Tiberias, Capernaum, Mount Tabor, Jericho, Bethlehem and of course Jerusalem.
They celebrated Mass daily at the Churches they visited during the tour along the way including at St Peter’s Church in Jaffa, St Anne’s in Jerusalem and The Church of Visitation in Ein Karem.
